Jason's Birth Story

I haven't written much about Jason's pregnancy and I am sad about that. But I want to at least write Jason's birth story so that I don't forget. We had a scheduled induction date of December 18th. His due date was December 23rd and we really didn't want to have a Christmas baby. I mostly didn't want to have a Christmas baby because I wanted Jason to have his own special day, Not something that got smooshed together with Christmas.

The night of the 16th I started having contractions all night long, and they didn't stop. When Kevin woke up I told him that I was having contractions, not just braxten hicks. He had to finish up some of his school and work. So he did that, then cleaned the house, then drove Camille down to Shantel's house, and came back to wait with me for the contractions to get stronger. We walked down to the apartment offices and that took forever, but make contractions come closer together.

Around 4 we decided that it was time to go to the hospital so that I could get an epidural. With Camille I thought that I got the epidural like 10 minutes after we got into the hospital, but Kevin said that was not true. They gave me some medicine with Camille that made me a little loopy. So when we went in for Jason I thought I would have an epidural before 5, but that was not the case. We got there and checked in, then we had to answer ten thousand questions that I already filled out. Then around 7 I finally got an epidural. Camille's epidural was awesome. I did not feel one thing. With this epidural my left leg was numb, but my right leg wasn't really numb. It kind of was, but not 100%. It didn't end up being a problem,

After the epidural went in we just had to wait. We were sleeping and just passing the time, when the nurses ran in and made me move. Jason's heart rate dropped and she was worried. It was kind of scary, but once I moved he did a lot better. I was so uncomfortable anyway so it was good to move. They ended up putting a heart beat reader thing inside of me so that they could have a better reading than the one that was just put on my tummy.

Around 11 they finally started getting me ready to push. My doctor wasn't able to make it, but the on call doctor was wonderful. We felt so taken care of and felt like she was very capable and wonderful. She came in and we pushed for maybe 20 minutes, just 5 rounds of pushing and he was out. It was great. I only tore a little bit and felt great. The feeling of holding your sweet little baby is something that words can't describe. He was perfect. His little face was squished and he had a really strong cleft chin when he came out. It has gone away, but it was so cute. He was born at 11:30. Weighed 8 pounds 12 ounces and was 22 inches long.

By the time we were all ready to go over to recovery it was already 3 AM. I am never going to the hospital in the afternoon again. It was terrible. I was so hungry and tired and when we got to recovery the nurse had to give all the information and that took 30 minutes. She did give me a sandwich and it made me feel so much better. I hadn't eaten since 1 the day before. We finally went to sleep and got to sleep for a while.

The stay at the hospital was nice. We just hung out, had some visitors, and Kevin actually ordered some food from food services and actually ate something. (That didn't happen with Camille. He just starved).

Jason has been such a blessing in our lives (even though he has been sick 3 out of 6 weeks he has been alive. We love you Jason and are so glad you are a part of our family.

Denver Family Vacation

This year for a little family vacation we were able to go to Denver. Kevin had a work convention to go to, so Camille and I tagged along for the ride. It was a great way to travel, because Camille had to take lots of naps anyway, so it is not like we could have been out and about all day, so Kevin would go to meetings, then come back and have lunch with us, then head to more meetings and Camille would take another nap, then come back and go do something, then go to dinner, then back to the hotel. It actually worked out really nicely, and we didn't have to pay for gas or a hotel and that was really great too.

The hotel we stayed at was actually fairly fancy/expensive. We had to stay there because that was where the convention was being held, which again, we didn't have to pay for, so it was okay. We are glad we were not paying for that hotel, because we would NEVER actually stay there. We decided we are not fancy people. We want to have a hotel with a continental breakfast so that we don't have to eat oatmeal out of the coffee pot (yes we are cheapies...$10 for a plate of fruit...no thank you). We also want a place that we don't have to pay $20 a night in parking, and a $20 occupancy fee for staying at the hotel. All in all, we were not too impressed with the hotel, and they were probably not too impressed with us. We had two queen beds in the room, and stood one of the mattresses up on its side to make a little wall so when we laid Camille down, she wouldn't be able to see us. We also had a baby that still cried a little and I am sure our neighbors loved that. Oh well...it was fun. Anyway....

Traveling down actually went really well. We brought food, and planned on taking lots of stops for Camille to run around. Unfortunately it was raining the whole way down. It stopped for a little while as we were passing Little American in Wyoming. So we pulled off, went the bathroom, played for a little bit, then jumped back in the car. That was our only stop the whole way down. Camille was such a trooper. I was so grateful because we couldn't really have stopped because of he weather, and it was Sunday.

Our first full day there Kevin did his thing, then when he was finished we went to he children's museum. It was so fun. Camille was still a little young for most of it, but she still had a blast. There was a fire engine that I am pretty sure Kevin thought was the coolest, and a dog that Camille was playing with. I would probably say that our favorite part was the bubble room. They had bubbles that you could make that turned out huge. And they had a platform that you could stand on then pull a rope and a bubble would encircle you. They also had an awesome bubble maker that filled the bubbles with fog or something so you could see them explode. Camille really liked it.

I am finishing this post 10 months later. I am such a slacker. But I want to post it so that I can remember at least a little bit of this vacation.

We also went to the Denver Aquarium and it was so awesome. Kevin and I loved it. They had this really awesome recreation of a flash flood and it was so fun to watch. I think the Aquarium was our favorite thing that we did on this vacation. We loved looking at the fish and they even had a tiger there!

We scheduled a time to go to the Denver Mint. We were really excited to take this tour. Unfortunately we scheduled it for the week after we left. We showed up and the guard said that it was closed for school tours, and we were so confused. Then when we showed him our tickets we were really embarrassed. We went in the gift shop and watched a little show about the Denver Mint. Camille was playing with an eagle, and Kevin thought it was so cute. He is such a push over. He just loves our little Camille so much. He ended up buying it for her. She is so lucky to have a dad that loves her so much!

On our way out of town we stopped at the Aviation Museum. Kevin and I did a flight simulator. It was so hard. I couldn't do it at all. Kevin did a lot better than I did. My excuse was that I had Camille on my lap and was taking care of her, but to be honest, I was just really terrible at flying. It was still fun. They also had some recreations of the pod racer on Star wars and a fighter jet on Star wars. Kevin loves planes and loves flying. It was an enjoyable morning before we headed home.

We drove home and again Camille did awesome. I was so grateful for her. She is the best. I was so grateful that we were able to go down there for a fun family vacation, and I was grateful that Kevin's work paid for a lot of it so we were able to do a couple of fun things.

Camille - 15 months

Camille has been through a lot this months. Mostly good things, but a couple hard things, so it has been an interesting month.

Okay, confession time. I am writing this a month late. I have been such a huge slacker in blogging (sorry Camille). I wrote down some of the new things she is doing, so I will just write those because I have forgotten the specifics of last month. I am so sad.

Camille is a little talker. I love it. Some words that she says are fishies, in reference to the goldfish crackers. Hot, especially when I take something out of the microwave. I know, which is so cute because she just repeats it and repeats it, "I know, I know, I know". Hi and Bye. Strawberry (a favorite fruit of hers). Careful (I think I say this a lot to her, probably because she is climbing on everything). Hachoo, it is so cute. When she hears me sneeze she will pretend to sneeze and say hachoo, and last but not least "oh no". I think she picked that up at her Aunt Shantel's house. Instead of saying uh-oh all the time she now switches between the two. It is so cute.
Camille just loves monkeys!
The reasons that this month has been hard is because first she got six shots!!!! Six shots at one time! Three in each leg. Oh goodness. It was so sad. She was such a trooper at the doctors office. It is the first time in months though that the next day her legs have been so sore that she didn't want to walk. Her legs use to hurt her after shots when she couldn't walk or crawl, but ever since she started walking we haven't had a problem with shots, but we did this time. It was so sad.

A day after shots we headed down to Utah and on the way picked up the stomach flu from my parents. Luckily it was only a 24 hour deal, but it was still nasty. We went to church with Shantel and David Sunday Morning, and Camille wasn't feeling 100%, but I didn't know if she was sick or just from her shots still. We luckily ended up sitting in the overflow on the basketball court. I was holding her and she was holding her bunny rabbit, then all of a sudden an explosion came out of her mouth. I had never seen so much throw up. It went all over me and the bunny rabbit and the floor. It was really disgusting. We hurried and walked back to Shan's house and hopped in the shower and changed our clothes. It was just quite the experience. That night after putting Camille to bed I wasn't feeling very well and threw up many times during the night. I was so grateful that Camille only threw up once. Especially at Shantel's house where other healthy babies were.
Camille loves to play at the park, and also loves Hippos for some reason.

I cut Camille's hair for the first time in her life this month. It was getting kind of long, and I was babysitting a little girl and her hair was so cute. So I decided to cut Camille's hair. A month later I am still so glad that I cut it. It makes her look so cute and not as homeless.

Camille learned how to find her tongue this month. It is so cute, I will say where is your tongue and she will point to it. Then she will try to find mine and when she touches it I make a noise and jerk back and she thinks it is so funny. I just love her little laugh.

Camille, you are the sweetest girl. I hope you know that I love you and think the world of you. I hope you always stay sweet and stay you. Don't let the world tell you to be anything that you don't want to be! Love you!

Easter

This Easter has been so fun with Camille. Kevin's parents are so great. They had a fun little Easter party. We went to the park and played baseball with Jenny's family and Grandma even was batting. It was so fun. Then we went and ate soup and had an Easter egg hunt. Camille was not exactly sure what to do, but once she saw some goldfish in a bag on the ground, she was all about finding more things. I love spending time with family and I am so glad Kevin's parents live closer to us.

Another fun thing we did for Easter this year was attending a Easter egg hunt in a swimming pool. Have I told you how much we love our neighborhood? We absolutely adore the people here. We are so sad to leave. There is a club house in the neighborhood and the owners put on a fun Easter egg hunt. They had some eggs outside on the lawn that everyone went and collected first, then everyone moved inside and they had the pool sectioned off into age groups. Camille's group was in the little wading pool. They had put empty Easter eggs in the pool and even sunk some with little rocks for the older kids. Camille had so much fun picking up Easter eggs and putting them in her little bowl. After the Easter egg hunt was over Kevin hopped in and we all went swimming for a while. We always take advantage of free swim days over there.

We dyed eggs for Easter this year. Kevin was unfortunately gone, but Camille and I proceeded to do it anyway. She thought it was so cool. She just wanted to touch everything. I probably should have let her explore them more, but they were so wet.

The next day for her little Easter egg hunt she found them though. She started hitting them together like she did with her blocks, but they started breaking so I had to take them away. She was so sad. This was her first Easter basket (last year when she was 4 months old I didn't do anything, I am the lame mom like that). This year though she mostly liked the basket the most. She would carry it around for a long time after. The basket was so large that she had to put her arm practically straight up so it would stay off the ground. It was sweet. She is just the sweetest (have I ever said that in any other post? probably not. I should say it again) She is the SWEETEST girl.

I was so glad that General Conference landed on Easter weekend. It always makes for a special conference and this was no different.

A week after Easter Camille and I went down to Utah to spend time with family. Melissa was so awesome and made a little Easter Egg hunt for Lydia and Camille. Melissa is so awesome and thoughtful. Camille was pretty sick, but she still really enjoyed it, and we just love being with family!

Happy Easter!!

3,2,1...Blast off

This last weekend we moved Kevin's parents. Friday we went to Paul and packed and cleaned and moved pretty much everything. It surprisingly went really smoothly. Even though it was just Shannon and I inside the house cleaning and packing with two little babies, and only Kevin and Michael outside moving all the farm equipment and packing the things into the trailer. Kevin and Michael were champs. They were so strong and worked so hard.

It was fun to see some of Kevin's things from growing up. Kevin is so awesome. He used to BMX a bunch and we found all these fun trophies that he won.

On Saturday we woke up and went to Rigby to unload. We had several more hands, but it still went really well. After spending the day unpacking, Kevin said that we should go to blast off in Idaho Falls because you can go see some new baby bear cubs. Of course I was all over that. So we headed back to Idaho Falls. We got there and paid to go in. We have never been inside of blastoff and it was awesome. When Camille gets older we will defiantly be going there. It is this huge playground with balls and obstacles and all sorts of fun.

Anyway, we were able to see the little bear cubs. It was $20 to be able to touch them, so we didn't get to pet them, but I just wanted to cuddle up with these little bears. I never thought that I would want to cuddle with a bear, but I really did.
See the bear under the chair! I still just want to give it a big hug!

After we decided to try a couple tacos from the taco bus. It was such a fun little adventure. I love these little things we get to do every once in a while. I love my little family.

Camille- 14 months

14 months old. This last month she has grown and learned so much! For her one year birthday my parents gave her a fun little slide. This month she learned how to climb up the ladder, turn around, and go down the slide on her belly. It really scared me at first, but she hasn't fallen off yet, so I am hoping it stays that way. Camille is so crazy. Kevin and I are sure that we will have to take her to the Emergency room before she turns two.

She has learned how to climb. Goodness she loves to climb. One morning Kevin and I were sitting on the couch trying to wake up, and Camille was just running around. We heard a little grunting and noises coming from the kitchen so we got up to check on her. We found her sitting in her high chair. She had climbed up, grabbed the back of the chair, hoisted herself into the seat and sat down. Now we have to store the high chair laying down. I worry that she will fall off too much. She is going to be a rock climber just like her Aunt Melissa.

Her favorite place to be is behind the couch in the window sill. She will climb up on top of me when I am laying on the couch, and push herself up and over the back of the couch into the window sill. It is so funny. If she is being grumpy, I just put her in there and she can look outside. Then when she is finished she does a dramatic fall onto the couch. She thinks it is so funny. (It is really funny).

Camille just learned how to give kisses. They are so slobbery and precious. She opens her mouth and says, "Awwww". Then pushes her open mouth up on you. She holds it there for a second and wiggles her wide eyes around. It is so funny. We have a doll that she just loves to kiss for some reason. It is the sweetest.

This last month when we did laundry we turned the laundry basket into a little bed. She loves to climb into and out of the basket. It was so fun.

She also really loves bath time. Sometimes we will take a bath, just to take a bath. Every time we walk up the stairs she runs to the bathroom and wants to get into the bathtub. One day I was cleaning or something upstairs and I went to find Camille and found her in the tub with her clothes on. Thank goodness there was no water in it, but she is just adorable in these pictures.

Recently in the mornings Camille and I will come down stairs and lay on the couch and she will just rest on me and fall in and out of sleep until she fully wakes up. It does my heart good to just sit and snuggle with my sweetie. She just makes me so happy.

Camille is a smarty pants. I am probably biased, but I think she is just great. She can say mama, dada, grandma, grandpa, apple, bananas, ball, more, Austin, Jesus, bubbles, and strawberry (stabery). She tries to say a lot of other words that we say like bread, blue, Lydia, and water. She also signs the words please (which is adorable, and milk. When you say, "where is the monkey?" she points to herself. It is so funny.

We have just been having so much fun with our little girl. I can't wait to see where she takes us. Love you Camille!

The Little Things

Sometimes we just need to get out of the house. I love to walk, but it has been too cold outside to go on a walk with Camille. So we often go to Target or Walmart or the Mall. We went to the mall the other day and just strolled through the stores. I love window shopping. Lucky for Kevin I am not an impulse buyer. I hardly ever buy anything. But I love to look at things. While we were walking around, we saw the little kiddie rides. I thought Camille might like a ride, and I had a dollar so why not right?

I hope to be able to do fun little things like this every once in a while, because we don't always get to do fun things. Camille chose to ride the little bus ride. She was really liking it, and then I started the ride and she was really concerned. Once the ride was going for a minute she really started to enjoy it. She was pushing the buttons and holding the steering wheel. It was so cute. I just love Camille so much.

Camille- 13 months

Hooray for having a 13 month old! Today my parents came up to Idaho Falls out of the blue to hang out with us. It just so happened that Camille turned 13 months today. They took us out to Texas Roadhouse and played with us all day. It was so nice of them to make the fast trip up and back just to hang out with us. Camille has got the best grandparents.

Camille has got the sweetest personality. She can say grandpa, banana, da da, and ma ma. Although if you ask her to say ma ma, she usually just says da da. If you ask her where the monkey is, she points to herself. It is just the cutest thing. She has two pairs of pajamas that have monkeys on them. I was showing her the monkeys and we were pointing at them. Later we took her pajamas off and asked her where the monkey was, and she still pointed to herself. Now she thinks that she is the monkey. It is so cute.

When we put music on Camille will start dancing. She doesn't do her rigid dancing as much anymore. now she will turn in circles to dance. It is so precious. She sometimes goes in so many circles that she makes herself dizzy. It is sweet. She is just so innocent.

This last month she got two new teeth. The top two teeth. I am happy she is getting more teeth, so that she can eat a more variety of food.It was unfortunate that she had to get them while she was super sick. So she was sick, and teething at the same time. It was a rough couple of days.

Camille can stack three blocks on top of each other. Can you believe it? I feel like that is pretty amazing. She really likes it when I stack the blocks on top of each other and then she can push them over. We say,"uh oh", then do it all over again.

Camille can show you where her head is and where her toes are. If you ask her where her nose is, she is typically grab her ears, but if you ask her where Mom's nose is, then she can find my nose.

She is one sweet and smart cookie. I love you Camille!

My sick baby

Camille got sick for the first time in her life. I really feel blessed that it was after a year. I have a friend right now and her son has RSV right now and he is just a newborn. For Camille being born in January, we really missed a lot of sickness. I feel very grateful for that.

It is unfortunate that she got sick though. Two nights ago we woke up every hour during the night. She was so sick. When she woke up we went immediately and got some medicine. She had a fever, runny nose, and cough.

She is feeling better now, but we have been doing a lot of snuggling. I have secretly liked it. She fell asleep on my chest for 5 hours today. It was sweet. I miss when she would snuggle for so long. I have been very sad that she hasn't slept well at night and hasn't been feeling well, but I sure do love the extra snuggles.

Camille I love you. And I know I won't always be perfect, and probably not very cool, but I will always love you and always take care of you the best that I can.

Swimming

We went swimming this week with some friends from the ward. They own the neighborhood pool, and invited us to go with them. They are so awesome. They brought pizza and it was a real party. They have two little girls. One that is almost 3, and one that is 9 months old. These two little girls love the water. Tessa (9 months) was seriously just crawling to the water. She crawled in a couple of times. She just loves the water. Blakely (3 years) was so cute. She was just jumping in the water everywhere.

Camille wasn't quite sure about the water. She was cold in the pool water. Once we moved to the hot tub, she just loved it. She started splashing and moving once she was warm. She looked so cute though. It was a bunch of fun to get to know the Hansen's better and to go swimming. It was probably one of the most fun nights I have had in a while. I love swimming. I hope Camille loves it as much as I do someday.

Shantel's visit to Idaho

I have the best sister. This last week David went on a work trip, and Shantel came up with Lydia and Austin to play with us. It was so nice to have a little company. I felt kind of bad because as much as I love living in Idaho Falls, there really is not too much to do. Especially in winter with a  bunch of little kids. So we didn't really do anything super fun, but it was fun for me to see my niece and nephew, and to have some company for a couple of days while Kevin was at work.

We went to Target to go clearance shopping. The cartwheel app had a coupon for 20% off all clearance. Isn't that great? If you find something on clearance for 50% off, you get to take an extra 20% off of that. It made for a great deal. I got a cute coat, boots, and hat for Camille for next year. I am really excited for next year already so that she can wear these cute winter clothes.

Shantel bought us pizza AND bread sticks for dinner. She spoiled us. If we ever get pizza we hardly ever buy bread sticks as well. It was wonderful.

The next day, we just hung out with Shantel at home. We watched "Dirty Rotten Scoundrel". It is an older movie, but it was cute. We really like Steve Martin.  I think he is so funny.

I got Austin to laugh again. I think that if you took his little laugh and recorded it, that it could heal anything. Cancer, beaten. Depression, gone. Whenever I hear his sweet laugh my heart just feels so full and happy. It is the cutest thing. He is always smiling. Or crying, but mostly smiling. His smile just melts my heart.

Camille really loved Austin. She would go over to his little bouncer and help him bounce, and pull the bouncer cover off. She liked to pat his head, and she even tried to help wipe his face off. She just loved having another little baby around. So did I.

I loved having my sister here and her little family. They make me so happy. I am so glad that Family is forever, because I don't know what I would do without them.

I have a 1 year old

I have a 1 year old. A little active amazing girl. She is really great. Looking back on this year she has learned so much. I mean, even in this last month she learned how to climb up on the kitchen chairs, which is really terrible. Now she is falling off of them all the time. Anyway, I don't even know where to begin telling you about Camille this month. I feel like she is just a little toddler, except she can't talk yet, and she can't eat hard foods. Other than that she just does her thing. She is constantly running around the house exploring things. She loves to put things on her head. Today she was wearing the Frisbee as a hat. It was so adorable.

Camille is really starting to figure things out. It is amazing how much she has learned even in this last month. I can say "find..." and say pretty much anything, and she can find it. It is pretty much the only way I can get her to eat. I say, "Can you find the bread?" and she picks one up, shows it to me, then eats it and says "num, num. num". Then I say, "Can you find the cheese?" then she picks one up and shows me then eats it. It is really cute.

She has been so cute. She started trying to dance. When some music come on she gets really ridged, makes her hands into fists, and bounces her arms up and down. It is so funny to watch. I am glad that she likes music though, because I think that music is very important.

She has learned the song "If you are happy and you know it". I can start singing it and she will clap her hands. That is the only action she knows. She also will say ma ma, and da da, when I put them in place of where she should clap her hands.

We finally bought Camille a crib and she was a champ. The first nap that she took in it, she cried and cried. But that night and ever after she has slept really well in it. The biggest problem that we face with the crib is that her pacifiers fall out of it.

I feel really stumped at what to write. I feel like she hasn't changed that much, but at the same time I feel like she is almost a different person. She seems so much older, but isn't really doing too much different.

She is just perfect. I just love to hang out with her all day long. She is so fun to play with. I love you Camille. I hope you always remember how much your parents love you! Happy 1 year!
