New Years Eve 2019

This year for New Years Eve I wanted to have some friends over and play games...only until 7 though because I am totally not a late night person, and I have small kids....and my friends have small kids. So I invited some people over. I thought that Kevin was going to be home, but it ended up that he wasn't going to be able to be home. But I had already invited several people over. Well, it ended up that most all of the husbands couldn't make it. So our neighbor Tim came and ate dinner, then went home (just down the street) and watched a game while the ladies had a ladies night and played a game while the kids played. some of the kids were crazy, and probably won't be invited over for another large group gathering but it was fun to get to know them. And again...my picture taking skills are lacking. Maybe that is one of my goals for this year. Take better pictures! Happy New Year Everyone!

Christmas 2019

This Christmas we spent in Iowa. I was sad not to be able to go home, but we just couldn't financially and time wise. Since we couldn't go home, my parents and Jacob came here. It was such a nice surprise. And of course I again didn't get very many pictures. But here is my little recount of the wonderful day. My family got here on the 23rd at like 8 PM, and Kevin got home around 9 PM. I was so happy to have people home again. Sometimes it gets lonely being at home with the kids. So the celebration could begin.

In the morning I made some breakfast and then my parents snuck upstairs to surprise the kids. They were so surprised, but my mom made the grave mistake of bringing up a lost Friskie dog and Camille was just so excited to see Friskie, so she seemed less excited about grandma and grandpa being there. But they really were excited and it made for such a special Christmas.

We played games and made our homemade pizzas for lunch. We didn't end up making cookies for Santa, but we left him out some pre-made cookies that were in a tin. For dinner we kept up with the tradition of ordering Panda Express. We ordered so much panda express. It was a fun surprise for my parents, and delicious for the rest of us. We obviously ate too much, but had a good night anyway. We read the story of Jesus Christ's birth, and had the kids put a sticker nativity together as we read the story. Then after all the festivities were done, we put the kids to bed.
Christmas Morning the kids didn't even wake us up until 7 AM when their light turned green. We went downstairs and the kids saw what Santa left them and they were so excited! Camille has been asking for a remote control helicopter for years, and last year I told her that Santa doesn't do remote controlled things (mostly because she would have been too young to have the coordination to fly a helicopter). I saw one at a store called Five Below and it was only $5 so I got one for her and a monster truck for Jason. They have lasted relatively well and Camille has been able to fly it so good now. But on Christmas she said, "Mom, I guess Santa does make remote controlled thing!" I can hardly believe she remembered what I said last year.

It was 60 Degrees outside, and the kids got a sled for Christmas. So Kevin pulled them around outside on the grass in his bare feet! It was such a warm Christmas!

We took turns opening gifts and it was just a nice celebration of Jesus Christ and a good time to be together. It was a beautiful day playing with gifts and grandma and grandpa and Jacob. We had a Traditional Christmas dinner of Ham and funeral potatoes, and enjoyed our time together.

My Dad and I took a 3 mile walk after the Christmas festivities and it was so nice. I love to go on walks, especially with my dad. It is always a special time for me to be able to go on long walks or short walks with my dad.

The next day we took Grandpa and Jacob to the Children's Museum. The kids loved showing Grandpa and Jacob around, and they loved playing. We recently got a membership to the Children's Museum, and I think that will be great, the kids love it there.

The next morning my family left for Utah....only a 16 hour drive. I was so grateful that the weather was nice and they were safe.

This Christmas was a special one, filled with surprises and family. I hope to always cherish my time with family. I love the family I grew up in, and I also the one I am making.

Merry Christmas from the Haderlie Family!

Jason's Birthday

Jason turned 4!!! I still can hardly believe it. I still think of him as my little 2 year old, even though I almost have another 2 year old! Jason, I love you so much! Wow, What a sweet and precious boy you are. For your birthday we really celebrated pretty hard this year, and tuckered you out by the end of the night.

While Camille was in school we served the elderly by taking meals to them (Meals on Wheels). You are always such a good sport to come ride in the car for a couple hours. After we finished we headed to the Children's Museum to meet up with your friend Ronin. We had lunch at Chick-fil-a and then went to the Children's Museum. You had so much fun with Ronin, and it was fun to spend a little quality time with you.

After the Children's Museum we went and picked Camille up from school. We opened presents and let you guys play with the gifts you got.

For Dinner we went to Pizza Ranch. We all ate some delicious pizza and macaroni and Cheese, then went to the arcade they have. It was SO fun! I loved playing arcade games with you! Seeing your eyes light up....it was such a fun night.

We didn't end up eating the birthday cake on your birthday, we waited for the next day because it was so late and we had just eaten Ice Cream at Pizza Ranch. But it was such a fun Celebration. I love you sweet boy, more than you will ever know! You are so good and fun and have a little twinkle of mischief in your eye that I love. I can't wait to see what the next year has to hold for you! Happy Birthday!

This was supposed to be a PJ Mask cake, and it didn't turn out too well. None of the kids liked the taste of fondant, and it was kind of Ugly...but Jason, I tried! I promise! And you were pretty happy with it...you loved helping make it!

November 2019

It has been a while since I have done a little update on each of us, instead of just what we have done. As much as I love reading what we have been doing, I think I just want to make sure and write these posts so I can remember these cutest kids.

Camille: Camille is loving school. So much! She is doing great. We just went to Parent Teacher Conferences and Ms. Trimble only had good things to say about her. She is the kindest and sweetest girl. Always helping her friends. Although, I already knew that about her. She is also exceeding in academics, which I also knew she would. She is so smart. In the starting assessment test she pretty much blew it out of the water.

The other day it snowed and Camille woke up and looked outside and said, "Mom! It snew!" instead of saying it snowed, she conjucated it the same way you would the word 'Know" into 'Knew'. Snow to snew. It was so cute to me.

Jason: Jason has been following me around ever since Camille went to Kindergarten. His new saying is, "Mom, where you go, I go." Which is so sweet, but make my eye twitch a little because he won't just stay downstairs and play. I am looking forward for when Sadie gets a little older and they can play together.

He is the funniest little boy. And he thinks he is so funny! He is constantly telling jokes, but they aren't really jokes, he is just making things up. He thinks he is so funny. This is the "joke" he is telling most often.

J: Knock Knock
M: Whose there?
J: PJ Masks
M: PJ Masks who?
J: Why did the PJ Masks fix their vehicles?
M: I don't know why?
J: because they were broken. HA HAHA HA HAH A

It doesn't even make sense, but he says it all the time. I just go with the flow with that one!

Sadie: Sadie loves sitting on the counter. It is her favorite place to be. Especially if the water is running. She is contantly getting wet because she loves the water. She also loves to pull all of the stirring spoons out and put them all over the place.

She has started to say mama without yelling at me, and can say Dada. Hopefully shortly she should be talking soon.

We have been doing some Just Dance off of Youtube, and Sadie is loving it. We started doing it for Camille, but Sadie started doing it and it is so cute!!!

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving this year was spent in Iowa. It is one of the very few Thanksgivings that we have been away from Family. (I think the very first Thanksgiving we were married I was working at Shopko and had to work the black friday sales the next day, and Kevin was driving semi. But he stopped in Logan for Thanksgiving dinner.)

We ended up hosting for some of our friends, and it turned out perfectly. I really feel grateful for how well it turned out. We invited Jessica, Tim and their kids Isabella and Faith. We also invited the Rogers: Lala, Kai, their kids Cason, Ronin, and Capri, and Aunt Tiffany. And we invited Jayden, Andrea, and their son max. It was perfect. Everyone was really worried because there were 9 people, but the house functioned well for us and we fit and the kids played so nicely together. I loved it.

I woke up in the morning and put the turkey in the oven . Turkeys don't actually take that long to bake, which surprised Kevin since we cook our roasts for the whole day. I got some sides prepped and ready, and then waited. I was going to have Thanksgiving dinner at 12, but decided to do 2 instead. It worked out great, but I was ready earlier.

Everyone showed up with their yummy food to share, and we ate food. Probably too much food. I had everyone sit down and while we were eating we played the bowl game. It is kind of a non-traditional get to know you game, but it was perfect. We laughed and got to know each other a little better.

I set the table all nice, and the Woodiwiss family brought some beautiful flowers that I enjoyed for several weeks after (until Sadie knocked the vase off the counter and broke it). But I didn't even get any pictures. I really should have taken a picture, but it still was nice.

I am glad we are starting to make some friends here in Iowa, and I foresee a lot more time spent here hosting friends and having parties! I have so much to be Thankful for this year, even though it has been a tough one, we have always had enough food, laughter in the house, love, and the Gospel. I have a great husband and wonderful kids. I have the internet so I can keep in contact with my family back in Utah and Idaho. And I love that I can be a stay at home mom. Happy Thanksgiving!

Here are a couple pictures Lala sent to me of Thanksgiving.

Carving Pumpkins-Trunk or Treat- Ward Party

Halloween!!!! I really love Halloween. This year I wasn't into it as much as I normally am. I just wasn't feeling it. But we still had a bunch of fun. Here are a few of the fun things that we did.

Trunk or Treat at the North Liberty Library- I had heard that there was a trunk-or-treat at the North Liberty Library, but I wasn't exactly sure what it was and how busy it was since we obviously have never been to it before. It ended up being really fun. We got there a little early and went inside the library where they had hired someone to take cute Halloween pictures of the kids. They had a craft they could do too, but Jason didn't want to do the craft. We got our pictures taken then played with some toys. This was a mistake. When the truck or treat started we headed outside to get in line, and the line was wrapping around the building.

Luckily the kids were happy, the weather was good, and the line wasn't too long. When it was or turn, the kids loved it. Sadie thought it was so great to be able to take candy from the bowls. She loves candy...like a lot. Jason thought the decorations were fun. And of course he loved the candy.

It didn't take long, but the kids loved it. I am glad we were able to go.

Another Halloween event was our Ward Halloween Party. There was a chili cook off, and a costume party. I am loving the age that the kids are getting to. Camille and Jason ate food, then went and found their friends and ran around and played. But I wasn't worried about them because they are good kids, and always stayed close. I am still not feeling settled into our ward, but I am working on it and I appreciate events like this where we can get to know people in our ward a little better. I made this cake which was both delicious and cute.

We carved pumpkins this year that we got from the Sass Family Farm. Kevin was there and he was the best pumpkin carver. He helped the kids open up their pumpkins, then they cleaned them out as best as they could and we helped finish cleaning them out. Sometimes I think it is just better to paint pumpkins, but it was actually really fun for the kids to get in to the guts and pull out the seeds. The kids told Kevin what they wanted their pumpkin to look like and he interpreted it and carved them. They turned out perfect! Since Kevin carved those two, I got to carve ours. I carved an Iowa Hawkeye this year since we are now in hawkeye country.

The kids woke up on Halloween they wanted a spooky breakfast, but I had only planned a fun dinner, so I dyed their milk green and called it slime. It worked...kids are so easy to please. I just need to remember to laugh with them and make things fun like this for them. They love it!

Halloween day turned out to be so cold! Camille was supposed to have a parade in her costume through town, but they changed it to where we were able to go to the gym and watch them walk around in their costumes. I was glad they changed it because it was so cold, and Sadie had pretty much skipped her nap to be there. So it worked out for us. Camille was so cute in her little ostrich costume. She is the cutest Kindergartner, I may be biased, but I am pretty sure I am right about it.

That night I made the kids get into their snow suits then I tried squeezing them into their costumes. Surprisingly it worked pretty well. We went and met some friends, and hit a couple of the houses in our neighborhood, but then they headed over to the other neighborhood, and we walked back to the car to go meet them over there, but I had never been to that neighborhood and so we got lost. We just pulled over and walked a street and it ended up being perfect. Sadie was so tired, she kept falling asleep in the stroller, and we just walked up and down one street and it was plenty!

Overall it was a great Halloween. Hopefully next year we can get more decorations out, but it was good for this year.  Happy Halloween from an Ostrich, Chase from Paw Patrol, and the cutest monkey around!
