It is the End of the world as we know it...and I feel fine....

Hello to everyone who will be reading this. I am most likely saying hello only to myself, but that is okay. I am glad to have a record of what we have been up to. A lot has happened since the last post. I want something to blame it on, and i probably could find soething, but I just can't blame it on anyone but myself. I slacked off as the world got crazier and couldn't get myself to write anything. So much has happened. It truly has sometimes felt like the end of the world. We have had political unrest, Covid-19 is still rampant, so many friends and family members are leaving the protection of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and I have just felt confused. In that time, the kids and I have moved back to Utah while Kevin is selling the trucking company (we have not lived together for 4 whole months and only seen each other a handful of times) and since March I have only attended Sacrament Meeting at the Church building a total of 3 times. It has been a confusing and quite difficult year for the whole world, and especially for us.

There is absoloutly no possible way to write a post about everything I have missed for the past 7 months, so I am just going to do a photo dump post. I wish I hadn't slacked so much, but I am feeling a little better and calmer so hopefully I can start posting fairly regualrly again.

The Best Neighbors...Ever

We have been blessed in all of the places we have lived with good neighbors, but our neighbors here have been so kind to us. We have been so lonely during this quarantine. We are doing well, but nothing exciting has happened.

One day we opened our front porch and one of our neighbors had brought us an Easter Egg Hunt. They had set up the eggs around our front yard, then left a basket for us to go collect them. The kids thought this was just the most fun thing. Probably because it was.

Another neighbor has brought us two little baskets of things to do. It was such a fun reprieve and it was a bright light in our day.

I feel grateful for the people in our lives, and for their kindness. I hope that I can always be a bright light for those around me as well.

We are Losing our Minds......or at least some hair.

We have been going a little stir crazy over here. Kevin came home from working one day and he said, "I think that I need a change in my style." I thought he was talking about his hair style, not clothing style. So I said, "well, you have always wanted to shave your head. Now would be a good time to do it because we aren't going to church and we are not seeing ANYONE." He laughed for one minute, then rashly said, "I am going to go shave my head." He went in the bathroom and cut all of his hair off. After he was finished he was surprised and kept blaming me for his rash decision. He has had it cut short for the last while now and actually likes it quite a bit. Kevin is my favorite person. Here are some great pictures for posterity sake.

COVID-19

This has been the most interesting/weird/crazy month of my life. A month or so ago China had a new virus going around. It was overflowing the hospital, and so many people were dying because there was not enough staff or ventilators to keep those who were sick alive. It was sad to watch on the news. Everyone, even those who were not sick, had started to wear masks or shirts or sponges or anything they could find over their mouths hoping not to get sick.

Fast forward a month or two, and that virus has now spread all the way over to the United States. On Friday March 13th I started to hear about it coming to the united states and that things were starting to get serious over here. The next week was Camille's Spring Break, so I felt comfortable in just keeping Camille at home for an extra day. We enjoyed spring break at home and have done some fun things. I am writing this on April 5th. It has been 23 days since we have really left our home. Kevin has been grocery shopping a couple of times. I have been to the post office 3 times. And that is it. Each day the school provides a lunch, so we drive over and pick up three lunches for kids. That is all we do.

We don't even go to church. All church meetings have been cancelled globally. Kevin performs the sacrament for us so we can still participate in renewing our covenants. We take turns
I feel grateful that we live in a small town. I feel grateful that we had bought toilet paper before all of this happened because apparently people are hoarding toilet paper. I feel grateful that the prophet has asked us to have a food storage, and although we don't have a year food storage, we do have enough to keep up fed and not having to rush to the stores to buy things when EVERYONE is rushing and buying everything. It is crazy. I have never seen so many empty shelves.

I feel grateful that even though the world is crazy, and life is crazy, that I can find peace and joy through Jesus Christ. I have been feeling some major anxiety (in fact I tried to write this post several weeks ago, and couldn't breath well because I was having a panic attack). But every time I pray, or read my scriptures I feel peace. I mostly just need to stay off social media and stay focused on my scriptures.

My kids are young enough, they don't really know what is going on. But school has been cancelled until May. So we have been doing and will continue to do home school. We will continue to play, and read book, do art projects and sing songs. Here are some of the fun things we have done during this time. I will update this post or maybe write another one, I am not sure. But here is a little dump of the past 23 days at home.

Who lost the first tooth in the Haderlie Home?

This is currently the ongoing joke in our home trying to make light of what happened.

We were watching some of our friends, Isabella and Faith, and Jason was trying to throw a pillow up to Isabella. While he was throwing it up, he hit his face on the rung of the bunk bed and started crying. I rushed in to see what had happened and there was blood everywhere. I carried Jason into the bathroom and then looked at his teeth. Both of his front teeth were pushed really far back. I was really worried about it. We were watching Isabella and Faith so we didn't have enough car seats to take everyone to the dentist.

I quickly called Kevin and he luckily was close by. He rushed home, grabbed Jason, and left. We have a couple of dentist/oral surgeons in our ward. Kevin called them and they said that it would probably be okay until the next day. They didn't seem so worried about it.

We ended up taking Jason to a dentist the next day. This dentist seemed a little crazy if I am putting it right. We just didn't click very well. He told me that Jason had broken the ligament on one of his front teeth. He compared it to the O rings in the challenger space shuttle. And how the O rings didn't work right and that is why the space shuttle exploded. And that is what was going to happen to Jason's adult teeth if we didn't pull it out. I wanted a second opinion.

So a couple days later we went to another highly recommended dentist. Unfortunately the first one wasn't crazy, and he also recommended that we pull one of Jason's front teeth.  So we had it pulled. Jason got some laughing gas. He was being so funny and giggly. We kept saying that it looked like he was wearing a
clown nose, and he just giggled. The dentist came in and numbed it up a little with a needle. That was the worst part for Jason. After he was numb, the dentist pulled the tooth. It took 2 seconds. Then it was all over.

He thinks it is the greatest thing having no tooth. He thinks it is so funny that he lost a tooth before Camille did even though she is older. He loved having the tooth fairy come and leave money, and he loved getting McDonalds after getting his tooth pulled. He was so brave and I was so proud of him.

He keeps trying to knock the other one out now. It just makes me laugh so much. He is the silliest and sweetest little boy. Love you Jason, thanks for keeping life interesting!

Bolt Bash

Camille has loved being in school. She loves participating in everything. Her school was holding a "Bolt Bash" fundraiser. They had a pizza dinner and a silent auction and games. So we headed over. Kevin was even able to come with us. We had pizza and popcorn and cookies for dinner, which meant the kids had cookies for dinner.

They had a lot of awesome things for the silent auction, but we didn't bid early enough. They said they were going to start the bidding at 7, but the started sooner so we missed that. But the kids were able to go around and play games and win candy and toys and they loved it. Spending a little time with my family doing some fun things is my favorite thing to do. Camille even won a cake walk (we had to do it like 12 times, but luckily the line was short.) Here are some pictures from the Bolt Bash. Love you Camille. I know you probably wont remember these memories, but I hope you remember the feeling of fun you had with your family and how much we love you!

Quick Trip to Omaha Nebraska

Kevin needed to go to Omaha to pick up a new truck. We were debating between us driving him over, or he was going to get an Uber to come pick him up and take him over. At the very last minute he ordered an Uber, then I called him up again and said we wanted to take him over. We needed a little adventure, and if he had to buy a hotel room anyway, then we might as well tag along and make a little trip out of it for me and the kids.

We set out right after dinner. It took about 3.5 hours to get to Omaha. The kids started asking if we were there about 30 minutes into the trip, but it ended up being okay. I think Jason was the only one who actually fell asleep at all. I was grateful when we made it to the hotel, but really the kids did pretty well.

We got all tucked into the hotel. Camille and Jason think staying at a hotel is the coolest thing ever (I did too at that age). They thought it was so special. Everyone fell asleep well and all the kids slept really good through the night. I did not sleep well through the night. My stomach was so sick, I ended up waking up in the middle of the night and made my way to the bathroom for a while. Luckily it was just during the night and I felt better by morning. And no one else was sick and slept through everything. So that is something to be grateful for.

In the morning I went to pick up doughnuts for breakfast because the hotel we slept in was a cheap one. I drove over to a walmart, and then came back to the hotel. The doughnuts were terrible, so I ended up leaving again to go to Casey's and get some doughnuts.  In the end we watched cartoons and drank juice and ate doughnuts and it was the perfect morning. The kids loved it. If we all could just enjoy the little things in life more we would all be happier.

After breakfast we dropped Kevin off at the place he was buying the semi and headed into town. We made our way to the free train museum and it was SO FUN. I really enjoyed it and I wish that Kevin could have come with us. It would have made it all the more fun.

The Train museum was built inside of an old Carnage Library. I have a special place in my heart for Carnage Libraries because my library growing up in Ephraim Utah was a Carnage Library.

Here are some pictures of our adventures at the Train Museum.

After the museum we just drove home. We thought about taking a detour in Des Moines, but changed our mind. We just needed to be home. Even though it really was a quick trip, it was so fun and was just what we needed. I am glad I was able to spend some time with my family doing something fun.
