November 2018

We did a couple of fun things this month that don't really deserve a whole post, but that I would still like to blog about. So here goes nothing.

Swing Park- We went to such a fun park this month. It didn't have a lot of things to do, but it did have a special swing that was extra fun. You sit on this swing and then it goes on a track around a half circle. Jason was really nervous at first, but ended up really loving it. The kids continue to ask to go to it even though it is so cold now. This is also the first time that Sadie sat in a swing. She didn't cry, but also didn't laugh. She didn't really care if she was in a swing, but she is pretty cute right?

This Is the Place Park- We were down in the Salt Lake area and so Camille asked if we could take Kevin to This is the Place Park and we agreed. When we went with Shantel we had SO much fun that I thought it would be a fun Saturday activity. We got there and hopped on the train and it drove around almost the whole park. It didn't stop to let us off or anything. We had to stick our arm out to have the conductor stop so we could hop off and look around.

We hopped off and the kids played on the big boat for a little bit and we walked around the tepee and hogan area and then walked over to town. The mini train was closed which made Camille a little sad, and everything else was closed as well. When you pay to get in, you get to do three activities, but nothing was opened, so we seriously just walked around and looked at buildings but didn't get to do anything. I was a little disappointed. It was nice to spend time together as a family, but we should have chosen a different and warmer activity.

Hill Air Force Base Museum- Jason wanted to go to the airplane museum so we packed up and went. Kevin had to work this Saturday so it was just the kids and I. It was really fun to go see the airplanes and see so many things. I was so touched by the POW display. I can't even imagine being taken as as POW and how they lived. It is terrible and hurts my heart. I wish that we could all just love one another and be kind. This world is a crazy place. But on the flip side, I was so grateful for all of the service men and women, from the past and now and in the future. Those men and women who risk their lives to protect my freedoms. So I can worship how I please, and I can write and read what I want. I truly live in the promised land.
Kevin gets dizzy so fast. This motion sickness chair would have been the end of him

Camille- Camille is as busy as ever. She is recognizing more and more words and loves to read books with me. Recently she has been coming in while I am reading my scriptures and she will sit as I read aloud the words. It is kind of a sweet and precious time to have with her as we learn about Captain Moroni and other people in the scriptures.

Jason-Jason is the kindest and most loving boy. In the mornings he will sit on my lap and give me kisses on my nose and ear and forehead and chin. It is just sweet. His imagination is starting to come alive even more and it is such a treat to be able to watch it bloom.

Sadie- This month we put Sadie in her jumper and she has been loving that. She is just like Camille was when she was a baby. They both just jump and jump and jump and jump. Sadie also is rolling like crazy. I will put her down and some how she will end up across the room and around a corner. She can pretty much get anywhere she wants to now by rolling and being a worm. She just doesn't know where she wants to go really. I think next month she will start crawling. I would be surprised if she didn't. She really is just on the move. Whenever she is rolling Camille will say, "Sadie is on the move to Hawaii!" and I say, "Sadie, take me with you!!!" Camille thinks it is really funny.

Jenna- This month I have been trying to get ready for Christmas. I am excited for Christmas this year and want to make it magical. I went down to Shantel's and painted some Ornaments that are all centered around Christ. I have them hung up and we are going to open one bag each day and take out an ornament and read about Christ's life. Then it has an activity we are going to do that day. I can't wait to spend time with the kids.

Kevin- Kevin has started a new business. It is called Kinetic Advising. It helps trucking companies put together a good loan packet so that they can get good loans for their equipment. He had his first client hire him this month! It is an exciting new step in the banking world that Kevin is embarking on. We (I mean Kevin) also bought a third semi truck this month. It looks like Kevin is going to do great things with his businesses.

Random Remembering
Someone brought this story up the other day and if I don't write it down it is going to be lost forever. This happened a couple months after we moved into our Layton Ward. It was Sunday morning and everything went as expected. We got up and got ready. The kids played. We put Jason down for a nap, and finished getting ready. We made lunch and woke Jason up so he could eat before we left for church. I made him a hot dog. He loves hot dogs. But for some reason he wouldn't eat it. I wasn't too concerned because I had snacks he could eat at church. We got to church and sat down. Sacrament meeting started and shortly after Jason threw up. Right on top of me and Kevin. Kevin luckily contained most of it and ran Jason out of the Chapel. It was terrible. I had no idea he was even sick. But now we know why he wouldn't eat the hot dog.

Thanksgiving

This year for Thanksgiving we spent the first half with Kevin's family and the second with my family. I love that we live close enough to both of our families that we can see them both during the holidays.

On Wednesday we went up to Idaho Falls. We stopped in Idaho Falls and had dinner at Mike and Charity's house. Oh my goodness, their house is beautiful. This is the first time that I have been to their new house, and they did such a good job designing it. After dinner we went and stayed at Shannon and Collen's house because Jenny and Roger's family were staying at Grandma and Grandpa Haderlie's house. It was so nice to stay with Shannon and Collen. After getting our kids to be we chatted and played Carrom. I had never played before, but Kevin played it as a child. The way they play is almost like a little pool table type game. It was fun.

The next morning they set up the Wii and we played Just Dance. I have never played Just Dance before, but I really love dancing so this game is right up my alley. It was so fun! And Kevin being the awesome husband that he is even played a couple times with me, even though he doesn't like dancing as much. Or at all. After playing Just Dance, we got ready and went to Thanksgiving.

Grandma Haderlie wanted us all to wear blue or red for a family picture because we had everyone together besides Steven (who is in Guam) and Cody (who is at college and had to work). We are a big happy family, and we were happier after the picture was taken, but I am glad we were able to take a picture. Not long after we finished the picture we had a prayer and started thanksgiving. There were probably around 100-150 people at the Haderlie Thanksgiving, which means there was so much food. Kevin was in heaven. I am pretty sure Thanksgiving is one of Kevin's top holidays. We ate way too much food and enjoyed every minute of it. Then I tried to get Sadie to fall asleep and take a nap in the stroller so I could play some basketball.

One of my favorite traditions of the Haderlie Thanksgiving is playing lightning after Thanksgiving. Since we are in the church already, we have half the gym set up in tables, and the other half free for playing basketball. I don't get to play basketball very often. I just don't have very many opportunities. But I love playing, so it is fun to get together with other people to play a little ball. Surprisingly, or maybe I should say not surprising, I did pretty good. We mostly played right at the free throw line, and I held my own. I was usually in the last 4, and Kevin was there along with me. I had a lot of fun, I think that Kevin did as well.

We played for a while and Camille crated and watched Frozen. Overall we had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Kevin's family is huge, and I don't know 2/3rds of them, but I love going and getting to know knew people and meet more of Kevin's family. I might not know them all, but I know where they come from, and everyone I have met is truly kind and wonderful. Kevin comes from a wonderful family.

We came home after Thanksgiving on Thursday and stayed at our home. Then on Friday we headed up to Morgan for Grandma Walker's birthday. We got there before everyone else and helped cook the turkey for the Walker Thanksgiving that was going to be on Saturday. Everyone else rolled in about 3 and it was so good to see everyone. Matt and Brooklyn came from California, and Jacob and his girlfriend Whitney came as well. So did Shantel and David and family, along with Melissa and Blake. It is so nice to be with family. Friday we ate delicious food and celebrated Grandma Walker's birthday and Blake's birthday. After we got the kids to sleep, we played some super fun games. Playing games is one of my favorite things to do with my family. We stayed up until midnight!!! I could hardly believe myself. I am not a midnight kind of person, but it was just nice to talk and catch up with family. It was worth the loss of sleep.

Saturday we woke up and made pancakes for everyone as they woke up. Those without kids slept in a little longer. Then we started getting ready for Thanksgiving. This year we chose to serve turkey sandwiches instead of doing a formal turkey dinner and it was so yummy.

We had to leave at 5 so that we could get home and see Shaylee Dragon and her new boyfriend, so we didn't stay too long. But being with my family makes me so happy.

I am so thankful for so many things. I am thankful for my family. For my parents who raised me and for Kevin's parents who raised him. I think we turned out pretty good. I am thankful for my wonderful kids who are kind and loving and fun. I am thankful for Kevin who is so kind to me and who is so wonderful. I am thankful for my Savior Jesus Christ. That even though I am not perfect, through His mercy, I have a chance to make it. I am thankful for all that I have been given.

Happy Thanksgiving

None of my kids are looking in the family pictures we took, but each one is funny in their own way so I am putting all three in.

Decorating for Christmas

It is the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas has never been my favorite holiday until I had children. It is so much fun now. Everything is just extra magical and I love that.

This year we are in Layton, Kevin has a good job, we are out of school, and our house is big enough to have more than a Charlie Brown tree and Kevin wanted that so bad. In one of my very first posts I wrote about how much Kevin loves Christmas and how he wants a nice big pretty tree. And this is the first year we have got that.

This is a picture of our first Christmas tree together. We have come a very long way since then!
We went before Thanksgiving to find a tree and we thought that maybe we would want to get a real tree this year, but no one had real trees out yet except Lowe's. So we headed over but Kevin was not impressed. So we decided this year that we are going to be a fake tree family. I feel okay about it. If we were to go out to the mountains and cut down our Christmas tree, then I would feel sad to have a fake tree. But just going to a Christmas tree lot doesn't sound as magical to me. So having a fake tree is good for us. We found the perfect one for us at Lowe's.

We came home and set it up while listening to Christmas music. The kids loved pulling out the decorations that we have. Each year we try to get a couple new decorations, like good decorations that we like. This year we got the tree and lights to go on the house. So our Christmas decorations are sparse, but it still is beautiful.

Making special memories like this with these little kids is what is most important to me right now. They are so special and deserve the very best childhood. Merry Christmas!

Book Cases

A little while ago Camille was playing in a little space between the wall and our bookshelf (that was handed down from Melissa and Blake) and she was pretending to climb the wall and ended up accidentally pushing the book case over. When I heard the crash I went to the family room and I just felt so grateful that it didn't land on anyone. Books are so heavy and it could have been so bad.

I ho-hummed around trying to decide if I wanted to just buy another cheap bookcase, buy an expensive all wooden bookcase, or make my own bookcase. With the help of my wonderful dad, I decided to build a bookshelf. I am SO glad that I did. It was a lot of work, but so worth it.

We went up to my parents for several days while Kevin was on a business trip to start on these bookcases. We would work on them after the kids went to bed, so from 7-10 PM. It ended up taking several weeks off and on of working on these book cases, but they were so worth it. Now they are in my home,  and every time I walk past them I just fall in love with them again.

Here are some pictures of the process and finished product.

While we were at my parents house so often we got to do so many fun things with them. Here are some fun pictures of things we were able to do with Grandma and Grandpa Haderlie.

Playing in the leaves with Grandpa Walker. Camille would pretend to be leaves, and Grandpa would stuff her in the bag and bring her to the bigger pile and dump here out. She thought it was the most fun thing ever.
This is Sadie's first time playing the leaves....or sitting in the leaves. She was not impressed.

Camille wanted Jason to have his own piles of leaves so she went outside to rake him up a pile.

Grandma did Jason's hair in a faux hawk and Jason would say, "My name is Spike" with his arms at his side. It was adorable.

Making rainbow toast. Camille at about 5 pieces of toast because she wanted to keep making more pictures.

While I was building a bookcase, Camille and Jason took some of Grandpa's scraps and made a bird house. They glued it together with Elmers glue and surprisingly it worked really well.

Uncle Jacob was up one day and took the kids on long board rides. Jason thought it was so cool. I am pretty sure Jason is just a mini Kevin just waiting to come out.
We had Lydia and Austin and Caleb up one day and the kids made "Kid Pancakes" with Grandpa. They are pancakes that look like kids. They thing they are the best food ever. But in reality they just have the best Grandpa ever.
As much as I liked building the bookcases, the best part was being able to spend time with my parents. It was so nice to spend time with them and for my kids to spend so much time with them too.

October 2018

Camille
At the start of this month Camille wanted to be an ostrich rider again for Halloween. I don't think she understood that you can be whatever you want on Halloween. She ended up being the cutest little witch there ever was.

We were driving home from Morgan the other day and Camille was looking up at the mountains and she said, "I bet Aunt Melissa's Jeep could drive really fast on the mountain." It just made me giggle a little. She thinks Jeeps are the ultimate vehicle and can do anything since they are an "off road" vehicle.

Jason
This year for Halloween Jason wanted to be a crockOdile. He is so funny. When we first asked him what he wanted to be he would say, "I want to be a crocOdile, but not a real crocOdile, just a pretend crocOdile." He would specifically tell you that he was not a real crocodile. He was the cutest crocodile.

Jason is really into the show PJ Masks right now. In this show there is a boy who turns into "gecko". His super powers are camouflage and super strength, and super sticky hands. So Jason will pretend to be gecko and will stick to the couches and people and chairs and walls. The way that he does it makes it look like he really is sticking to these objects. It is SO cute.

So last month Jason was struggling getting to bed. There were just lots of tears going on around bedtime. But this month Jason has started to want to sleep in tents. He asks us to put his blanket up around the top and sides of his beds and it sticks him in a little tent. It has worked great because if he moves, then it will fall off, so we say, "if you move your tent will fall off so don't move!" and he doesn't move and falls asleep really quickly. It is the best trick that has ever happened in our family!  Plus it is pretty cute of him and the way he likes to be in his tent.

Sadie
This month Sadie officially rolled from her back to her front to her back again. She doesn't roll from her front to back too often, but she did it! It is so exciting to see her accomplishments. She is starting to get so big and I am just excited to see her get a little older. Sadie is also starting pureed foods this month. We started her on rice cereal first. She is getting use to eating food and I think she is going to really love real food when she can have it.

Kevin
Kevin wants to be a good boss and take good care of his employees so that they will just want to continue working for him. So he had this great idea about buying a pickup for our employee Matt who has been working for us. It would be the company pickup and as long as he worked for us then he would be able to drive it around. So we went down this month and Kevin found a pickup he thought Matt would like and bought it. It was pretty fast actually for buying something so expensive. As we went through this month Kevin thought maybe it wasn't the best idea because then you have to worry about who is taking care of the truck and insurance etc. So he decided not to give that pickup to Matt and keep it for himself. I think that the whole thing was a big charade for me so that Kevin can have a new pickup and not his old one. ha ha. But it has been nice to have a nicer pickup that will fit the car seats a little better next year.

That same day we got the new pickup, Kevin took us all out to eat at a little BBQ joint called the Smoking Apple. It was so good! We shared a sampler platter and it was all delicious. It came with some smoked sausage that was actually pretty spicy and Jason loved it. I am always so surprised when Jason eats such spicy/hot things, and really enjoys it.

Jenna
This month has been filled with cooking for me. I fed the missionaries one night and it was nice. I love having the missionaries in our home. I feel so grateful for the sacrifice they are doing to further the gospel and it makes me think about the sacrifice that Kevin did and how grateful I am that he served a mission. And hopefully someday when my kids are on a mission a nice family will feed them too.

I also made dinner for the Beasley family and the Koller family. They both had new babies recently and when you have new babies, making food is sometimes the last thing on your mind. I also watched their kids so they could have a little break. Since I don't feel like I can leave Sadie for very long, I haven't been to the temple in a while. I am trying to give as much service as I can by watching other peoples kids and feeding others. It is all that I can do, like it is my only talent, and I hope that while I can't go to the Temple that I can stay close to the spirit by serving those around me a little more often.

While we were buying the new pickup that is mentioned above, I took the kids over to the Timpanogos Temple. We went and walked around while Kevin was doing the paperwork and it was just so beautiful. I love the temple. It was so nice to be close to the temple with the kiddos. We were not able to stay too long, but it was nice to walk around and enjoy the beautiful temple grounds for a little bit.

Everyone
We all have been so sick this month. Not at the same time, which is almost worst because I feel like it just keeps on going and going. Camille got sick at the start of the month while we were at my parent's house. She was sleeping and woke up complaining that her throat hurt. Not 10 minutes later I was carrying her as fast as I could up the stairs to try and make it to the bathroom before she threw up. We didn't make it to the bathroom, but at least we made it off the carpet. She threw up a couple more times that night and then the next day she was fine.

The next week the same thing happened to Jason, but he is not as good at throwing up. I can have a bowl right in front of his face, and he will push it away and throw up on his bed. I hope that changes as he gets older.

Then this last week while we were in Idaho celebrating Grandma Haderlie's birthday, I got so sick and threw up all night. Then Kevin got it super bad and threw up this week.

It has been so crappy. I am hoping that this is not a omen of how our winter is going to be. I hope that this is the one sickness we get and then we don't get sick anymore this winter. I just feel really grateful that Sadie hasn't gotten it...at least not yet. I am praying that she stays healthy and strong.

Overall October has been filled with joy and love and fun.

Halloween

Happy Halloween from the Haderlie Family! This year was so much fun! Last year Jason was a little sick, and all the costumes scared him. But this year everyone was dressed and had lots of fun. We were in Morgan working on my bookcases (see other post) so we did trick or treating in Morgan this year.

Camille decided she wanted to be a witch for Halloween this year and she was the cutest witch. The only problem was her hat kept falling off, so I just carried it in the stroller.

Jason wanted to be a crocOdile (that is how to pronounces crocodile. It is the cutest thing.) He was so cute. He would come up to you with his crocodile costume teeth and chomp your leg. He just makes me laugh

Sadie was a flower, because we had a flower costume and it fit her. I was grateful for it, because Halloween night was actually kind of cold, and I felt like the hood and the little body suit kept her a little warmer than she would have been otherwise.

In Morgan the businesses put on a trick or treat street. So we drove over to the Rock Church and walked up and down state street. It was actually really fun. It was fun to see so many other people's costumes. The kids got candy, and toys, and someone had catered a taco truck so my dad and I got tacos. One company was giving away hard hats as well! The kids got a couple and have already played dress up with them. It was fun to walk around the street.

We came home and had some dinner and warmed up. Shortly after we finished dinner the kids were ready to go out trick or treating again. We walked around my parent's neighborhood and it was just perfect. The kids got to run from house to house to get their treats. At one of the first houses the handle broke on their cute witches cauldron and the candy fell all over. Instead of helping pick up the candy and put it back in the cauldron the kids thought it was like a pinata and just started throwing as much candy in their buckets as they could. By the time I got up to the door they had gotten several handfuls. It mostly just made me laugh out loud. I love my funny kids.

When we were almost finished, Camille said she needed to go to the bathroom, so we ran back to Grandpa's house and went to the bathroom and then we were pretty much finished for the night.

It was so fun to take the kids trick or treating this year. Unfortunately Kevin was really really sick and then he gave it to my dad. So that was not fun. But other than that everything was pretty much perfect. I love my family and being able to play and do fun things with them. Happy Halloween!

Grandma Haderlie's 66th Birthday

We finally made it to Idaho since Sadie has been born! We do not make it up there often enough, but we got up for Grandma's birthday. We left early Friday morning because friday afternoon Aimee was hosting a Ladies Learning and Lunch. Diane has been trying to get a new thing going with the ladies that live up there like Grandma, Shannon, Charity, Aimee, Melissa, and a few others; where they get together and have lunch and chat and then have a discussion on a topic that is meaningful and that they can learn from. I haven't been able to attend any yet since I just had a baby and we live a little ways away, but we made it up for that one. Kevin watched the kids while I went and it was so nice to just talk and chat and learn from the ladies there without having to worry about crying babies.

After the lunch, the kids and I went over to Shannon's house to play. I love that Camille and Jason have cousins to play with on this side. Most of their cousins are a lot older than they are, but since Shannon is having kids about the same time as we are, they have some fun playmates. They played outside and picked up leaves and came inside and did some creating, and went downstairs and played with toys. After an afternoon of playing, we went back to grandma Haderlie's house and had dinner, and then Pat had grabbed a couple extra DIY block snowman sets from her wards Super Saturday activity for Shannon and I to do. It was fun to do a little craft there. I am not actually really great at crafts, but it is fun to do them every once in a while.

Friday night I ended up getting SO sick. I was just throwing up all night long. I was praying so hard that I would make it through the night and that Sadie wouldn't need me too much and I know that Heavenly Father answered my prayers. I was able to make it through and I didn't even throw up on Sadie.

Saturday morning Kevin took the kids for a little while and I rested and then got up. Pat wanted the carrots dug up so Kevin went out and did that, and I sat on the bench and held Sadie and watched him.  After digging carrots Kevin went and got the motorbike working and took Jason for a ride on it. Jason was really hesitant at first. Right now he is kind of a cautious boy (which I hope he take part of this cautiousness with him as he gets older). But once Kevin got him on the bike he thought it was the greatest thing. He came inside exclaiming how he went over a BIG hill and how it was bumpy and fun. Kevin and Jason also threw a football together outside. Well Kevin threw it close by Jason, then Jason would run and go pick it up and try to throw it back. It just melted my heart to see my two boys playing together.

That afternoon everyone got together and we celebrated Grandma Haderlie's 66th birthday. She made taco salads and everyone brought a pie so there were like 10 pies to share between the 12 people who were there. It was pretty much paradise to Kevin.

We left a couple hours later so that we could make it home before it was too late. Everyone traveled pretty good. I feel grateful that we have good kids that travel pretty good. It makes trips like this much more enjoyable.

We loved spending time with Grandma and Grandpa Haderlie and seeing our Haderlie cousins. Hopefully we get up there soon again.
