Where Have You Been All My Life

Hello, Me again. I know it has been a while. So much has happened that I couldn't even give an appropriate recap to catch up to where life has brought us. So I am just going to start here, and tell you about life right now and hopefully I can keep a better updated blog.

Members of the Family:
Kevin: Currently working at Continental Bank in Salt Lake City. Has one Semi on the road, loves airplanes, and is super handsome.

Jenna: Staying at home with the kids, doing some paperwork for the Semi Truck, trying to decide if I should chop all of my hair off, and currently is loving hogie sandwiches.

Camille: Just started swimming lessons and online preschool, loves to create things, is the best big sister, and is honestly the smartest and sweetest girl that I know.

Jason: Recently started sleeping in a toddler bed without ANY PACIFIRES!!!! Wahoo! Loves trucks, chips, and grandpa. He has such a good sense of humor, but has just started the phase where he loves to tease his older sister.

Sadie: 6 weeks old, wakes up 2-3 times per night, very calm, starting to try to talk, and has recently started smiling! (I think we are starting to get to a better age! yay!)

Can you believe that I have three children? I can't, and yet I don't remember my life before them. It is like I have always had them.

Right now we are living in Layton, Utah in a retirement subdivision. Ha! We actually love it, but we didn't know what we were moving into when we signed the contract. They come and mow the lawns for us, and do the weeding so that is really nice. Especially with a new little baby.

We took Sadie camping at 4 weeks old. She did AWESOME! In fact, she slept the best of all of the kids. It was highly unusual. We went to the campground Monte Cristo above Huntsville. It was so beautiful. Camille was "painting" our wood with dirt the whole time, and Jason was making dry mud pies. I have never seen them so dirty. They loved it. Kevin built a tripod thing for camping this year and it is awesome. We made hot chocolate on it and I predict a lot more delicious food being made one it.

I realize this is a little sporadic and all over the place, but I just wanted to get something down to start with. I really want to start writing in a journal again, and I think that this is the place where I am going to journal at. So much is going on in our lives, and this seems like as good of a spot to document what is going on as any.

I love my kids, my husband, and Jesus Christ. I can't wait to share with you what is going on in our lives now. And I can't wait to look back and remember all of the fun and wonderful and maybe trying times that we have had.

First Family Camping Trip

Lets set the scene, we have a 4 year old, a 2 year old, and a 1 month old. We want to go do things, but with a new baby it is a little hard. But Kevin and I think to ourselves, "if we always are waiting until the baby is older, then Camille and Jason are not going to have any memories at this age." So off we go camping with a 1 month old. We want our kids to have so many good memories of being with family, and we love camping and want to share it with our kids. I just hope our kids know how much we love them.

A couple months ago Kevin went on a motorbike ride up in the mountains by Huntsville and he thought it was so beautiful and wanted to go camping. There is a campground there called Monte Cristo. So we went there and it was perfect.

Kevin got home from work around 3 o'clock and we started packing the truck. Our truck is older, and we haven't put 3 car seats in it before, so it took some jimmy rigging the car seats a little bit but we finally got them in. Getting them in took forever. We ended up leaving our house at 5. We usually eat dinner at 6, but the drive up to Monte Cristo took a little over an hour. So we got there around 6 ish, but still needed to make dinner and set up the tent and everything before it got dark. So we split up and I started cutting up potatoes and Kevin set up the tent, then we switched and Kevin started the Charcoal for the dutch oven and I started setting up sleeping bags. We finally got everything set up and dinner ready. We made potato, bacon, and onion casserole(?) in the dutch oven. I am not exactly sure what you would call it, but it is delicious. We love it.

While we were doing all of the above, Camille and Jason "painted wood" with dirt and played in the dirt. I have never seen them so dirty. It made them so happy. Our campsite was close to the bathrooms, which doesn't seem like a detail I should include in this story, but when you have a 4 year old it is really important. Camille was able to go by herself and she had to climb over a fallen tree and I am sure that she thought she was the coolest 4 year old in the world.

If you look in the background you can see the bathrooms. Isn't that perfect for a 4 year old?
We let the kids stay up a little later and roast marshmallows. Jason didn't actually love eating them, but he LOVED roasting the marshmallows. So we let him roast (burn) several marshmallows. He thought it was the best thing ever.

Sadie was awesome while we were setting everything up. She hung out in her bouncer for the most part and then later during the night we held her. We finally got Jason and Camille to sleep which is amazing because I forgot to give Jason his pacifier. It was the first night he fell asleep without his pacifier. It gave me hope to take his pacifier away. We eventually gave it to him because he was struggling a little bit to stay asleep, but it was a success that he actually fell asleep without it.

Kevin had made this awesome thing that goes over the fire so we can cook on it and warm up water, and so we warmed up some water and made some hot chocolate and sat by the fire. It was such a nice hour to sit and relax and drink hot chocolate with my love.

That night Sadie slept so awesome. We put her in a little snowsuit to keep her warm and she slept so great. In fact one time when Jason woke up I leaned over to see if she was still alive because she was sleeping so good. Jason on the other hand did not sleep so well. We got these new kid sized air mattresses for the kids, and Jason just could not stay on it. I think next time we go camping we will just leave the air mattresses at home.

The next morning we woke up and had breakfast (which the kids didn't like) and started packing up camp. When we got the last thing packed up into the truck it started raining pretty hard. It was perfect timing.

It was so nice to go camping, but being the adult is hard. Having to set up camp and do all the cooking and all the grown up stuff. It was a lot of work, but so worth it because Camille and Jason made some good memories and we got to spend some good quality time together as a family.

We hope to get some more camping in this year, and every year after this. And we hope to make many more wonderful memories with our family.

Sadie's Birth Story

Sadie's birth was unlike Camille or Jason's birth. And I would like to write it down so I remember. If you haven't heard, I have a terrible memory for anything important. I remember the most random facts, but nothing of importance.

Well to start out lets go back a couple months and write down some facts. I was not nearly as sick with Sadie as I was with Camille, but was more sick than I was with Jason. Also, during the last leg of this pregnancy, I started eating dates. I had read somewhere that if you eat dates your labor time goes down. So dates I ate. And with the previous pregnancies, I was huge during the winter months so I never thought I got extra hot when I was pregnant. But I sure was wrong. With Sadie I found out that I do get hotter than normal because I am pregnant. Sleeping at night was terrible for Kevin. He wanted two extra blankets and I wanted to have no blankets on because I was dying of heat. Usually it is the other way around where Kevin wants fewer covers and I want more. The biggest craving I had with Sadie was soda pop. I just wanted carbonation of any kind. Except for cola drinks, I don't think those taste very good, but bring on the root beer and fanta orange! Those are a couple of the facts that you need to know.

We had been waiting anxiously for Sadie to come for weeks! Jason came a week early and Camille came a day early, so I thought maybe Sadie would come a week early about as well. So we waited and waited and June 9th came and went. So we scheduled an induction. Note how hot and miserable I was in the paragraph above. The earliest my doctor could schedule one was the night of the 11th. I took it! We took the kids to Shantel's house (who we are so grateful for) on the 10th. On the 11th Kevin had to go to work for a while, and I cleaned the house. It is always nice to come home from the hospital to a clean house. Then Kevin came home in the afternoon and we went and got some Panda Express for my "last meal". Then we drove up to the mall in Ogden hoping to get some contractions going so we went walking. I was hoping to be able to go into labor spontaneously, but it wasn't to be. So we headed over to the hospital. I was kind of nervous to be induced into labor, but the nurses were so comforting. We got set up by 9 PM and the contractions started. I went without an epidural until 1 AM and then enough was enough. The epidural went in and I got a little sleep (and so did Kevin).  A couple hours later Sadie started getting a little stressed out, so I had to sit up instead of lay down for a while. That was a little uncomfortable because I wanted to sleep and it is difficult to sleep when sitting up. And when you have an epidural and you can't actually move your legs, sitting is a little hard. About an hour later I was able to lay back down and get some more rest. Then around 6 AM I was almost ready to have Sadie here. I told the nurse when I got to the hospital that I hoped to have her here in the 6 AM hour because I was born on June 12th in the 6 AM hour. And she was ready around 6 AM. Dr. Lammi came in and just a couple pushes later at 6:11 AM the sweetest little girl came out. I felt so at peace. I just held my sweet Sadie and felt at peace. I knew she was supposed to be a part of our family. From before she was even born I knew she was waiting to join our family and she was finally here. She was 19.5 inches and 8 pounds even. She was healthy and strong. I just want to note that this was the fastest labor of the three taking only 9 hours where Camille and Jason's took at least 12 but more like 15-20. So maybe the date eating helped speed things along?

We went to recovery and I recovered very well. This was the easiest recovery (once I could use my legs again anyway). Sadie slept a lot, and I slept a lot (because having a baby takes a lot of hard work). We watched some movies and spent time together with our new little addition. The hospital made us watch this channel with a repeating show and it was terrible. I have to write that in here so I don't forget. Kevin is always a trooper when it comes to the hospital. The food isn't very good, and the beds are terrible, but I feel so grateful to have him there taking care of me. He takes such good care of me.

Overall everything went well, and we are so happy to welcome our sweet little bundle into this world. Sadie we love you and can't wait to see what you have to offer this world. I can already tell it is something great.

Major Update

For the past what seems like forever I have not really had a computer, and life has changed so much! I am so sad that I missed so much of our lives. So I am just going to do a brief recap of the major things that have happened. I am so sad I didn't keep up on blogging the last couple months because we have done some really fun stuff.

-We sold our house (more on that below) we needed some place to live before we went to school. Kevin's parents just moved to Rigby, Idaho and were kind enough to let us live with them for a while. Camille LOVED it. She loved picking raspberries with Grandma, and swinging outside with Grandpa. I am glad that she got to make such a great relationship with them while we were there.

- Kevin decided he wanted to do a Masters Program. So he applied to some schools and got accepted at several of them. He decided he wanted to do the Masters in Finance Program at the University of Utah. So we declined all the other schools, and accepted the University of Utah's offer. In that time period we sold our house (oh yeah...we bought a house a year ago) and moved in with Kevin's parents until we moved to school. A month or so later Kevin was having second thoughts. So we decided to reapply to Utah State for their Accounting program. We finally got accepted (again) to Utah State. After the sale of our house we moved all of our belongings down to Logan into a storage unit, so that when we moved down to start school, all of our stuff would be there. Little did I know at the time, our life was still going to change. The day after we applied for a housing contract in Logan, Kevin decided he actually would rather go to the University of Utah. Thankfully it was not accepted and we didn't lose a deposit.

We moved down to Salt Lake City. Unfortunately all of our stuff was in Logan. So we moved everything from Logan to Salt Lake City. I just feel so grateful that Kevin and my dad are such troopers. My dad is just the best. He has helped us move our stuff several times now, and this last week my car broke down on the side of the road and he immediately left work to come pick Camille and I up. I just don't know what I would do without him.

We have been here in Salt Lake for 5 months and it has been great. Kevin is doing an internship for URS right now and isn't loving it. Other than that, life is pretty good. We love our ward and the people that we live by.

- Oh, we had another baby. We missed all of the pregnancy posts and delivery. I will write a birth story hopefully. Just in case I don't, his name is Jason Scott Haderlie and he is perfect. The pregnancy went really well. No major cravings, and not really too terribly sick. With Camille I had terrible morning sickness, but Jason I was just a little sick in the morning, but I didn't feel like throwing up constantly. One weird thing was with Camille I couldn't drink enough water. There was a water bottle in ever single room and car. But if I drank any water with Jason I almost immediately would throw it up. I just couldn't drink anything.

-Did I ever write about selling our house? We love our house, and technically it is still ours. Sometimes we want to just move back to our house. It is scheduled to be sold this spring. Hopefully it goes through because we need that money to pay off our student loans. I left my aprons at our house when we moved. That was a sad day.

-Camille is 2 years old. I will try and write a two year old post. I am sad that I missed that last 8 months of her life. She is so smart and funny. She speaks in full sentences and is wonderful at remembering things. I can say something once and she will remember it forever. She is the sweetest thing I have ever seen. I love her a million. (That is our little saying and it is so sweet).

Well, that was the briefest summary of our life the last 8 months or so. I will try to be better at writing what is going on. I am not very good at blogging, but I sure love being able to look back and read what happened.

Jason's Birth Story

I haven't written much about Jason's pregnancy and I am sad about that. But I want to at least write Jason's birth story so that I don't forget. We had a scheduled induction date of December 18th. His due date was December 23rd and we really didn't want to have a Christmas baby. I mostly didn't want to have a Christmas baby because I wanted Jason to have his own special day, Not something that got smooshed together with Christmas.

The night of the 16th I started having contractions all night long, and they didn't stop. When Kevin woke up I told him that I was having contractions, not just braxten hicks. He had to finish up some of his school and work. So he did that, then cleaned the house, then drove Camille down to Shantel's house, and came back to wait with me for the contractions to get stronger. We walked down to the apartment offices and that took forever, but make contractions come closer together.

Around 4 we decided that it was time to go to the hospital so that I could get an epidural. With Camille I thought that I got the epidural like 10 minutes after we got into the hospital, but Kevin said that was not true. They gave me some medicine with Camille that made me a little loopy. So when we went in for Jason I thought I would have an epidural before 5, but that was not the case. We got there and checked in, then we had to answer ten thousand questions that I already filled out. Then around 7 I finally got an epidural. Camille's epidural was awesome. I did not feel one thing. With this epidural my left leg was numb, but my right leg wasn't really numb. It kind of was, but not 100%. It didn't end up being a problem,

After the epidural went in we just had to wait. We were sleeping and just passing the time, when the nurses ran in and made me move. Jason's heart rate dropped and she was worried. It was kind of scary, but once I moved he did a lot better. I was so uncomfortable anyway so it was good to move. They ended up putting a heart beat reader thing inside of me so that they could have a better reading than the one that was just put on my tummy.

Around 11 they finally started getting me ready to push. My doctor wasn't able to make it, but the on call doctor was wonderful. We felt so taken care of and felt like she was very capable and wonderful. She came in and we pushed for maybe 20 minutes, just 5 rounds of pushing and he was out. It was great. I only tore a little bit and felt great. The feeling of holding your sweet little baby is something that words can't describe. He was perfect. His little face was squished and he had a really strong cleft chin when he came out. It has gone away, but it was so cute. He was born at 11:30. Weighed 8 pounds 12 ounces and was 22 inches long.

By the time we were all ready to go over to recovery it was already 3 AM. I am never going to the hospital in the afternoon again. It was terrible. I was so hungry and tired and when we got to recovery the nurse had to give all the information and that took 30 minutes. She did give me a sandwich and it made me feel so much better. I hadn't eaten since 1 the day before. We finally went to sleep and got to sleep for a while.

The stay at the hospital was nice. We just hung out, had some visitors, and Kevin actually ordered some food from food services and actually ate something. (That didn't happen with Camille. He just starved).

Jason has been such a blessing in our lives (even though he has been sick 3 out of 6 weeks he has been alive. We love you Jason and are so glad you are a part of our family.

Denver Family Vacation

This year for a little family vacation we were able to go to Denver. Kevin had a work convention to go to, so Camille and I tagged along for the ride. It was a great way to travel, because Camille had to take lots of naps anyway, so it is not like we could have been out and about all day, so Kevin would go to meetings, then come back and have lunch with us, then head to more meetings and Camille would take another nap, then come back and go do something, then go to dinner, then back to the hotel. It actually worked out really nicely, and we didn't have to pay for gas or a hotel and that was really great too.

The hotel we stayed at was actually fairly fancy/expensive. We had to stay there because that was where the convention was being held, which again, we didn't have to pay for, so it was okay. We are glad we were not paying for that hotel, because we would NEVER actually stay there. We decided we are not fancy people. We want to have a hotel with a continental breakfast so that we don't have to eat oatmeal out of the coffee pot (yes we are cheapies...$10 for a plate of fruit...no thank you). We also want a place that we don't have to pay $20 a night in parking, and a $20 occupancy fee for staying at the hotel. All in all, we were not too impressed with the hotel, and they were probably not too impressed with us. We had two queen beds in the room, and stood one of the mattresses up on its side to make a little wall so when we laid Camille down, she wouldn't be able to see us. We also had a baby that still cried a little and I am sure our neighbors loved that. Oh well...it was fun. Anyway....

Traveling down actually went really well. We brought food, and planned on taking lots of stops for Camille to run around. Unfortunately it was raining the whole way down. It stopped for a little while as we were passing Little American in Wyoming. So we pulled off, went the bathroom, played for a little bit, then jumped back in the car. That was our only stop the whole way down. Camille was such a trooper. I was so grateful because we couldn't really have stopped because of he weather, and it was Sunday.

Our first full day there Kevin did his thing, then when he was finished we went to he children's museum. It was so fun. Camille was still a little young for most of it, but she still had a blast. There was a fire engine that I am pretty sure Kevin thought was the coolest, and a dog that Camille was playing with. I would probably say that our favorite part was the bubble room. They had bubbles that you could make that turned out huge. And they had a platform that you could stand on then pull a rope and a bubble would encircle you. They also had an awesome bubble maker that filled the bubbles with fog or something so you could see them explode. Camille really liked it.

I am finishing this post 10 months later. I am such a slacker. But I want to post it so that I can remember at least a little bit of this vacation.

We also went to the Denver Aquarium and it was so awesome. Kevin and I loved it. They had this really awesome recreation of a flash flood and it was so fun to watch. I think the Aquarium was our favorite thing that we did on this vacation. We loved looking at the fish and they even had a tiger there!

We scheduled a time to go to the Denver Mint. We were really excited to take this tour. Unfortunately we scheduled it for the week after we left. We showed up and the guard said that it was closed for school tours, and we were so confused. Then when we showed him our tickets we were really embarrassed. We went in the gift shop and watched a little show about the Denver Mint. Camille was playing with an eagle, and Kevin thought it was so cute. He is such a push over. He just loves our little Camille so much. He ended up buying it for her. She is so lucky to have a dad that loves her so much!

On our way out of town we stopped at the Aviation Museum. Kevin and I did a flight simulator. It was so hard. I couldn't do it at all. Kevin did a lot better than I did. My excuse was that I had Camille on my lap and was taking care of her, but to be honest, I was just really terrible at flying. It was still fun. They also had some recreations of the pod racer on Star wars and a fighter jet on Star wars. Kevin loves planes and loves flying. It was an enjoyable morning before we headed home.

We drove home and again Camille did awesome. I was so grateful for her. She is the best. I was so grateful that we were able to go down there for a fun family vacation, and I was grateful that Kevin's work paid for a lot of it so we were able to do a couple of fun things.

Camille - 15 months

Camille has been through a lot this months. Mostly good things, but a couple hard things, so it has been an interesting month.

Okay, confession time. I am writing this a month late. I have been such a huge slacker in blogging (sorry Camille). I wrote down some of the new things she is doing, so I will just write those because I have forgotten the specifics of last month. I am so sad.

Camille is a little talker. I love it. Some words that she says are fishies, in reference to the goldfish crackers. Hot, especially when I take something out of the microwave. I know, which is so cute because she just repeats it and repeats it, "I know, I know, I know". Hi and Bye. Strawberry (a favorite fruit of hers). Careful (I think I say this a lot to her, probably because she is climbing on everything). Hachoo, it is so cute. When she hears me sneeze she will pretend to sneeze and say hachoo, and last but not least "oh no". I think she picked that up at her Aunt Shantel's house. Instead of saying uh-oh all the time she now switches between the two. It is so cute.
Camille just loves monkeys!
The reasons that this month has been hard is because first she got six shots!!!! Six shots at one time! Three in each leg. Oh goodness. It was so sad. She was such a trooper at the doctors office. It is the first time in months though that the next day her legs have been so sore that she didn't want to walk. Her legs use to hurt her after shots when she couldn't walk or crawl, but ever since she started walking we haven't had a problem with shots, but we did this time. It was so sad.

A day after shots we headed down to Utah and on the way picked up the stomach flu from my parents. Luckily it was only a 24 hour deal, but it was still nasty. We went to church with Shantel and David Sunday Morning, and Camille wasn't feeling 100%, but I didn't know if she was sick or just from her shots still. We luckily ended up sitting in the overflow on the basketball court. I was holding her and she was holding her bunny rabbit, then all of a sudden an explosion came out of her mouth. I had never seen so much throw up. It went all over me and the bunny rabbit and the floor. It was really disgusting. We hurried and walked back to Shan's house and hopped in the shower and changed our clothes. It was just quite the experience. That night after putting Camille to bed I wasn't feeling very well and threw up many times during the night. I was so grateful that Camille only threw up once. Especially at Shantel's house where other healthy babies were.
Camille loves to play at the park, and also loves Hippos for some reason.

I cut Camille's hair for the first time in her life this month. It was getting kind of long, and I was babysitting a little girl and her hair was so cute. So I decided to cut Camille's hair. A month later I am still so glad that I cut it. It makes her look so cute and not as homeless.

Camille learned how to find her tongue this month. It is so cute, I will say where is your tongue and she will point to it. Then she will try to find mine and when she touches it I make a noise and jerk back and she thinks it is so funny. I just love her little laugh.

Camille, you are the sweetest girl. I hope you know that I love you and think the world of you. I hope you always stay sweet and stay you. Don't let the world tell you to be anything that you don't want to be! Love you!
